– My Birthday!

Cyborg….

Youíve seen them. I see them all the time. Cyborgs. Or at
least they wish they were. They are the guys who
always
have their hands free headset on ìjust in caseî someone calls them on
their cell phone. They donít
have to be lowered to the level of a mere organic being by holding their
cell phone to their head.

They can talk as if the person was there, talk as if they
werenít even on the phone, and the whole time looking soooo cool with their
microphone and ear piece melded to their head like it was a part of them.

I laugh to myself and roll my eyes when I see them out in
public. Trying to integrate with society even though they are far superior
beings ñ half man, half cell phone.

Now donít get me wrong. I strongly support hands free
headsets when you are driving for obvious reasons. What I am talking about is
the guys who wear their headset ALL the time just to look cool. I wonder though
what makes them want to do this.

We all allow technology to rule our lives. Well right now I
am typing this on a laptop and am uploading to my website
wirelessly with my cell phone. (Yes I am super cool too!)
. However I
think some people want to be technology.
They have their cell phone, pda, pager, digital camera and mp3 player all
snapped to their belt. They recharge their batteries like they eat ñ to keep
life going. Every device and every second saved earns them valuable time toÖ.
spend on ebay buying another device.

The guy with the hands free headset on all the time
though takes it to a new level. He doesnít have time to use his
technology, because it saves him so many seconds each day that he wants it to be
his technology. The cell phone is an extension of him and when he is ìout
of the service areaî that part of him has been amputated.

Cell phone companies are already testing cell phones that
are implanted inside people, so that there are no wires, no batteries,
just integration. Or is it assimilation?

That day will come in our lifetimes and when it
does I hope that guy with the hands free headset on
all the time will be happy. Until then he will just have to keep on looking
super cool and hopefully take a break once and a while from his cyborg toys to
charge them. Maybe then he will
pick
up a normal phone and call someone rather than always
being ready and waiting.

January 26th, 2005

…..Oh yeah I run a website!

So I was in Edmonton for four days and on the way there we stopped in
Lloydminister to get some A&W. When I walked in I was overcome with this strange
pungent smell. It took me a few seconds till I realized what the smell was…. A
FILTHY SMOKER!!!   WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!!!…..then I realized
that we were on the Alberta side of Lloyd.

Since July 1st we have all been spoiled (and some of us shunned) with the
smoking bylaw in Saskatoon. I must say being an asthmatic and allergic to smoke
I have loved the smoking ban since day one but on the days when it is -30 and
-40 degrees outside you have to show some compassion for the people outside
getting their buzz….or do we?

Since January 1st the entire province of Saskatchewan has been smoke
free and I must say it is great. I love going to places and not smelling
like smoke. This last weekend all of my clothes reeked of smoke after
going to the pubs on Whyte Ave and I realized how much I appreciate
living in a smoke free city.

This rant isn’t about me though. This rant is to encourage all of you
to go out and get drunk!  Many businesses are complaining about
business going down since the smoking ban, however it is still quite
hard to make the argument that banning smoking ruins businesses when
only 1/5 people smoke. You can’t tell me that only 20% of the population
keeps 100% of the hospitality industry alive.

At the same time though the other 4/5 people who are used to staying at home
and “not going to the bar” or “not hanging out with friends” or “not spending
tons of money drinking overpriced alcohol” need to get off their asses and spend
some money at your local pub, tavern, bar, or lounge. Even restaurants are
better now that we can all breath. After being in Edmonton for 4 days I can
definitely say that we have it good here so go enjoy it.

The best times are spent in good company. Go out and enjoy.

January 19th, 2005

I have sooo many more pictures of the last few shows to put up but
unfortunately I haven’t had time because I have been preparing my portfolio for
a Journalism Conference in Edmonton I am going to in 3 hours. So there won’t be
any new pictures for the next 4 days but until then …. Here’s my new

January 12th, 2005

Pictures are up of Slipknot
from last night.
Enjoy!

CRAZY masks, orange jumpsuits, barcode tattoos, a ridiculous
amount of bouncers, and history made in Saskatoon was all found at the Slipknot
concert last night at Credit Union Center. The nine member heavy metal band from
Iowa graced an enormous stage last night to thousands of fans with opening acts
Unearth and Killswitch Engage.

Slipknot has been on hiatus for a few years after their last
album Iowa. The members basically hated each other which you would pretty much
expect to happen in a nine member band with three percussionists, two
guitarists, bass, turntables, samples, and a lead vocalist. The most intriguing
thing about the band however, aside from the number of members is that no one
has ever seen them without their masks on. Like the band GWAR, each member takes
on their own character which adds to the experience of seeing the band live.

I had expected Slipknot to only play but much to my surprise
they talked to the crowd a lot. The lead singer Corey was very thankful to the
fans for their latest album Vol3: The Subliminal Verses going platinum in
Canada and he said that if it wasn’t for the fans they would just be another
band from Iowa. Halfway through the song “Spit it out” the band stopped playing
and Corey told the audience they were going to make history in Saskatoon. He
told all of the people in the pit to get down on the ground and as close to each
other as possible then he told everyone in the seats to run down to the pit and
do the same.

In an instant hundreds of people were jumping over the barricades
and running down to the floor to get down on the ground. The entire
arena was packed with people and all of the security and the bouncers
looked very worried. “We are going to be banned from Saskatoon for this”
Corey said as he told everyone to stay down. Then when the band started
“Spit it out” back up Corey yelled “get up jump”. The entire pit went
wild.Slipknot left the stage with the crowd in a frenzy and then came
back for an encore with the the songs “People = Shit”, “Wait and Bleed”
and finally ending the night with my favorite song “Surfacing”.

The members came back out after and threw drum sticks and water
bottles into the crowd with one drum stick funny enough making it completely
over the crowd and hitting a very unsuspecting sound guy in the back of the
arena. Corey thanked the crowd again and promised them they would be back to
play again. He took a bow as he walked off with the crowd screaming and looking
very forward to them coming back again.

December 28th, 2004

If you can imagine 150,000 people dead and millions without food, water, or
shelter then please donate whatever you can to the many relief efforts for South
Asia.  If you have no idea what I am talking about then you should pick up
a newspaper, turn on the radio or watch the news on TV!  One dollar out of
your pocket can save a child half the world away.

December 27th, 2004

So you know when I am not updating band pictures? Well that is usually
because I am busy taking pictures of other things!

I have finally updated the
PORTFOLIO section. It will
always be a “work in progress” and since I have created this I have taken a
zillion more pictures but you get the idea.

December 25th, 2004

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!

December 24th, 2004

Remember back in July when I wrote a rant about how we always wait until
someone is gone or leaving to find that “perfect picture” of someone? Well I
decided to take my own advice and had 429 pictures printed to give all my
friends for Christmas!

December 23rd, 2004

Things to be thankful for:

A peaceful country to live in, clean drinking water, easily accessible cheap
food, power for our houses and street lights, a refrigerator to keep our food
from spoiling, a roof to keep us dry and insulated walls to keep the heat in,
heat, free television and a choice of what channels you want to watch, if your
reading this you have access to the internet, if you have used a phone today you
are pretty lucky, if it was a cell phone that is pretty convenient, if you have
listened to music today that is pretty cool, if you got to choose what kind of
music you listened to today that is even better, if your lights turn on with a
flick of a switch and only go out when the bulb burns out you should be pretty
happy, if you have one jacket for when it is really cold out and another “light
jacket” for summer that is pretty cool that you can be out side and be
comfortable, if you aren’t dying of
breast-lung-prostate-bladder-colin-brain-skin-intestinal-or-blood cancer, aids,
crones, Alzheimer’s, heart disease, diabetes, stroke, or just simple old age you
are pretty damn lucky though I bet you know someone who isn’t as lucky this
Christmas, if your house hasn’t burned down with your entire family inside you
have a lot to be thankful for, if your parents don’t beat you and your
parents/teachers care about what kind of marks/attendance you get in school you
are luckier than some, if you smoke-drink-drugs-gamble-bar-or go to shows you
are pretty lucky to not have anything more important to put your money towards
like having enough food to feed your children, if your ate
today-yesterday-everyday you should say grace every time before you eat, if you
have ever traveled farther than the city you live in that is pretty adventurous
compared to a lot of people, if there is foam or springs in your mattress when
you sleep you must be pretty comfortable, warm sheets are even better, its also
pretty nice to not have to worry about being awaken in the middle of the night
by bombs falling, or bullets firing, I like listening to the radio and watching
the news and reading the newspaper to hear what is going on in my city and in
the world around me, carpet and linoleum is much better than dirt or cement and
if you have socks they keep cleaner too, if you got your “shots” back in
elementary school for various diseases that many children die of in other
countries it is worth the scar, if you have ever voted or look forward to being
able to vote next election you should be proud, if you like sports it sure is
nice to have the equipment to play with, if you enjoy hiking and driving its
nice to not have to worry about land mines, its nice to have fruit in the winter
and ice cubes in the summer, if you have a job, two jobs, or three jobs you make
a lot more money than the people who make the the things you buy, if you hurt
yourself you can go to the hospital and be helped for free, if you hurt yourself
really badly an ambulance will come and give you a ride to the hospital so you
don’t have to walk, if you have friends, family, or loved ones to be with this
Christmas you are incredibly lucky, if you know someone who doesn’t have anyone
to be with on Christmas you should invite them to be a part if your
family/friends during the holiday season., etc, etc, etc

You shouldn’t give thanks on Christmas day any more than you should give
thanks every other day of your life. Although we all may have some “have nots”
in our list of life it is the things we do have that we should be
thankful for.

So I had a customer yesterday ask me what the smallest radio we
had was. I, as normal, pointed to the smallest radio as the customer seemed to
be incapable of judging the size of objects for some reason. The customer then
told me that the reason she needed the radio to be small was because her
daughter was taking her to Church on Christmas Eve…..

Pictures will be up this weekend.

December 13th, 2004

Pictures are up of Adolyne from Saturday
night. If you have never seen Adolyne live I highly recommend that you do. They
won’t let you down!

December 12th, 2004

Customers, customers, asshole customers. It is time again for my annual “I
hate being a salesman during Christmas”.  I can’t tell if people are
illiterate or just too freaking lazy to read but all I do is tell people what if
they spent half a second thinking and reading could figure out for themselves.

I know a lot of people reading this work retail and will agree that customers
don’t think. They become instant sheep once they have to purchase something. It
is a challenge when I am helping a customer not make eye contact with another
for fear that they will try to steal me away from the customer I am helping
because “I’m the most important person in the world and if I don’t get
service and common sense given to me I will get really angry and then I will get
really angry anyways because you won’t price match another place that has it for
cheaper but doesn’t have it in stock”

When it is super busy during Christmas I always feel like a norm in a room
full of mindless zombies
. They all want at your brains and stand and stare
blindly and wanting until you look at them and say “I can help you in a second
once I’ve finished this sale [and this sale and this sale and this sale]”.

It’s endless. I’ve started to resent human beings and drink more to
compensate.  As I get older Christmas feels less and less like “Christmas”
and I think that is because I have always been so busy during it.  Tonight
I forced myself to watch Christmas with the Kranks and even though it
wasn’t that good, it was nice to just sit down and watch a Christmas movie. And
of course like any Tim Allen movie there is a message. Christmas is about
giving. For me it is the only thing that makes me feel like it is Christmas and
lets me forget about all the asshole customers.

December 11th, 2004

Pictures are up of Tombstone
Diaries
with Adolyne soon to come.  Enjoy!

December 8th, 2004

I just realized that the last time I redesigned my website was December of
last year. That is pretty cool.

Anyways, I have been working on other sections of this site and taking a lot
of pictures of non-band related stuff which you all will eventually see.

There are a couple shows next week so check ’em out.

December 6th, 2004

Well I have been working like crazy on this site for the last week and
I hope you’ll all be pleased. The bands section is redone and all of the
thumbnails and links have been updated. There are a few new pictures in the
Photo section with lots to come, as well as the friends section has had a huge
update.

The Waste section is now a links section and worth a look. I have added a
shows section where I will have posers and dates for shows as well links to
places to find shows. (if you ever have a poster for a show e-mail it to me and
I will post it)

Finally there is a portfolio section which will be up in the next couple
days. It is going to be a section for my best work. I shoot
A LOT of non band related stuff (eg. sports) and so now it will have a place to
go.

Oh yeah and there are 12 new banners up top so click refresh a few dozen
times.   Enjoy!

December 2nd, 2004

No new pictures but I made it easier to find old pictures by spending over 20
hours fixing all of the links and galleries in the BANDS
section. So go back in time and enjoy the new grand total of 221 bands all over
again….221 bands…wow.

Pictures are fashionably late of
All That Remains when they played with
GWAR last week.

November 27th, 2004

Pictures are up of Junior
Pantherz
when they played at Amigos last night. Enjoy!

November 25th, 2004

FINALLY!!! Pictures are up of GWAR
! If you were unfortunate to have missed the show then read on, it will
make the pictures seem a little less crazy. Enjoy!

So on Sunday night I walk into Ryley’s to see GWAR and there is plastic on
the floors, the walls, and the ceiling. “Why is there plastic over everything?”
I ask my friend Liam. “Apparently GWAR has 150 gallons of fake blood and a
canon!” he replied.

I knew it was going to be a good night! I was able to get a photo pass
for the show but I still had to pay $30 to get in. I was wondering why the
show cost so much but by the end I realized why…. It was a freaking Broadway
musical! Every other song GWAR played had a new character/monster come out
on stage. Members of the band either killed them or battled them with giant
swords until the whole crowd was soaked in fake blood.

It all started off with John Kerry coming out and having his head cut off
after lecturing the crowd and the band. Fake blood spew from his body and then
he was dragged off stage, next it was
Arnold Schwarzenegger with his
giant stinky fingers which were soon chopped off in a sword fight. His limbs
shot blood on the crowd as members of the band tore into Arnie’s chest and
ripped out his organs which shot more blood at the crowd.

Paris Hilton was up next. Strapped to a torture
table on wheels they ripped and pulled her apart with more blood spraying out at
the crowd who were all in amazement of what they were seeing. I could not
believe how awesome the show was going so far and wondered how many more “acts”
there would be.

Michael Jackson graced the stage next and sang
some backup “ehhh hooos” to the song Crush Kill. As the song went on Michael’s
face fell off and showed his hideous skeletal remains. Of course blood as
you would expect by now came splattering from his head.

The lead singer then called onto stage the most
wanted man in the world Osama Bin Laden to battle during the song Bring Back the
Bomb. There was a sword fight with a nuclear bomb and of course Osama lost
with bloody results. A worthy adversary to follow Osama was George W. Bush who
just like Paris Hilton was strapped to a torture table on wheels and was torn
apart by the band members. The entrails and several meters of intestines and
organs danced around in the arms of the band as blood shot out from Bush’s
carcass.

Probably the least tasteful thing I have ever
seen was to follow with Laci Peterson who was murdered by Scott Peterson while
pregnant with her son (its been in the news a lot lately). In expected bad taste
Laci Peterson was there and had a self abortion on stage with the baby puking
green blood all over the crowd. It was sick, it was discussing, it was GWAR!!!

Back from the dead came the Reaganator. A half
Ronald Reagan, half robot who had a huge battle with the members on stage. He
couldn’t be stopped until they were able to rip out his hydraulic lines and
spray the crowd with green blood again. The lead singer of GWAR with his giant
snake like penis then sprayed the crowd with his “filthy urine” while playing
the song Sick of You. The band left the stage and the crowd went wild
screaming for more GWAR. After being soaked in fake blood, drenched in green
puke, and rained on with filthy urine (all fake here of course) the crowd
couldn’t get enough.

The band did an encore with some rock star I
guess named Melvin taking stage with them. They didn’t seem to like Melvin
because his head didn’t stay on too long. Melvin made it a point however to make
sure that every drop of blood from his severed head went onto the crowd and
continued to spray until Bonesnapper came out.

Bonesnapper was a giant monster with an apatite.
He had the longest and biggest battle finally ending with his face and then his
head being torn off and green blood shooting in every direction. Needless to say
it was hard to keep my cameras from getting soaked but I did my best. The final
battle with Bonesnapper happened during the last song Lost Gods which made the
crowd go crazy. Like I said GWAR didn’t just play an amazing show, they put on a
terrific performance and no one left the place without red or green blood on
them, and if they almost did, after the last song one band member brought out
“The Biledriver” a giant blood canon to shoot the crowd with. No one was spared!

I have seen hundreds of shows in my days and I can definitely say that GWAR
was the craziest and most worth my money. Now I just need to get this green
blood off of my camera! If you want to know more about GWAR
and where they came from check out www.gwar.net

There is also a show tonight (Thursday) at The Bassment with PHD, Sammy
Sticky Finger, and Against all Odds + others.

November 12th, 2004

Pictures will be up soon of Thursday night, but first a
scolding!I found a beer bottle in the guys bathroom at the show.
I didn’t tell Drabble (though I could have). If he had found the
beer bottle THE SHOW WOULD HAVE BEEN SHUT DOWN because if The
Bassment is ever caught with outside alcohol it would be shut down =
very bad.

There have been way too many shows that have been shut down due
to peoples ignorance with this and it hasn’t happened in a while
thankfully and I pray it never has to happen again.

PLEASE –DO NOT– bring outside alcohol into The Bassment EVER or
the shows will be shut down = bye bye Saskatoon punk scene. Tell
your friends and think about others rather than yourself wanting to

I hope you all took time today to remember what over 100,000
Canadians died for. There were over 7000 people at Credit Union Center which
made it the largest Remembrance Day ceremony in Canada believe it or not. In so
many ways I feel very disconnected from the World Wars and yet I know some day I
will have to explain the wars that are going on right now in Iraq, Africa, and
the middle East to my children.

I don’t know how I will be able to explain to them what the wars
were about, but I know that I will teach them why they were all wrong to have
happened. Remembrance Day doesn’t only make me reflect on what has happened in
the past but also question why wars are happening today despite all that has
happened, and all that the veterans have told us. Lest we forget.

Lame? Yes. Hilarious none the less? Definitely! Click on the
comic to see the full version.

November 2nd, 2004

Who do you want to be the President of The United States of America?

John Kerry

George W. Bush

November 1st, 2004

Tomorrow in the United States the presidential
election will happen. Hopefully whoever gets elected, Bush or Kerry
will win by more than a few hundred votes. If Bush wins by a large
margin then even though I will not be happy for him winning, I will
be glad to know that he is in power because the large majority of
Americans believe him to be the best leader. If he wins by the
Supreme Court ruling him President despite him actually having less
than 50% of the popular vote then I will be very pissed off. For it
will be the same ignorance which reinstates him as the ignorance of
wars starting because we haven’t learned from the past.
Tomorrow I will have an online voting pole open and everyone who
goes to this site can vote for either Bush or Kerry. Even though I
know who will win, it will still be fun.Now since I get to be the
media in this case I think I will put up a good ol’ Bush
bashing video for you all to watch. It is 40 Minutes long (70mb) and
will only be up for the next couple days. The documentary simply
compares what Bush has said and promised vs. what he has done and
lied about. It is a very interesting video. I ask that you right click
and “save as” the video to your computer rather than streaming it.
Enjoy!

Documentary video – “There’s
something about W
“

Pictures are up of The End and
Adolyne at their Halloween show on Sunday at
The Roxy. Enjoy!

I also won a $25 bar tab in a costume contest at the show for my John
Kerry costume. I made money off of John Kerry!

Bassment last Friday. Also Pictures, TONS of pictures (until the band
manager ran out and told me I couldn’t take any more) of

October 31st, 2004

October 30th, 2004

Pictures are up of Samuel the
Black Shaman
from last night.  Poser Disposer, More or Less,

October 29th, 2004

Remember Georgestock and all the fun
that was had? Well Tera had my camera that day and here
(once again) are all of the
Pictures of that
glorious day.

Tonight (Friday) — Poser Disposer,
Samuel the Black Shaman, Adelade, More or Less and maybe
The Modules are all playing a Halloween show at The
Bassment $5 w/ costume, $6 w/o. Show at 8pm.

If that’s not your cup of tea then
April Wine with The Slackers (members from Perfect
Tommy) are playing at The Pat on Friday night too, $10,
10pm.

As I’m sure you’ve all noticed I haven’t been
updating as much as I used to. I could give you a million excuses
but none of them change the fact that lots of people ask me “what’s
up? why don’t you update anymore?” — well as you all remember back
in August I lost a month worth of updates and over 1000 pictures and
had to re-update them all. I actually have been updating
lots, its just you don’t see it because its all the background work
and maintenance that this site has been in desperate need of.

Basically when a website gets this huge and you
don’t continually maintain it you simply create a lot of work
for yourself later (which is something I do with a lot of things in
my life :) — I am almost caught up with this site and now I
want to expand it…a lot.

I am going to start updating regularly (every 2
days) and make this site “fun” to go to as it was in the summer
before the terribleness happened.  Help I need from YOU though
is suggestions for my site. What do you think I could do to make it
better? What would you like to see? I am thinking of making a
section for people to upload their own pictures of shows, as well
change a few things around to make this site look a little snazzier.
If you have any suggestions
e-mail me
and let me know.

This site has grown SOOO much in the last 2 years
and I want it to continue so I need the people who come here to help
me decide how to grow.  Thank you and keep coming back!

October 7th, 2004

Sorry for taking so long with pictures but I’ve been focusing on school
more lately and hopefully it all pays off (*give myself a pat on the

October 6th, 2004

I far from need to “plug” this show but if you haven’t
seen or heard The Reason get your ass to The Bassment on the
10th! Also playing is Blue Skies at War in which the same
applies!
Billy Talent, Death from Above: 1979, and Metric
will be playing at The Odeon on Oct 13th which will
definitely sell out so get your ass down to the Odeon
and get yourself a ticket!  Tickets also on Ticketmaster
Doors@8pm, $15 advanced, $20 Door
19+

And here’s what 2 seconds of taking pictures of the walls at Amigos
and 20 minutes of editing can do.  Your welcome Amigos!

Finally while I’m at it I would just like to take this
time to give a shout out to Kim who is going to school in
Alberta and yet still uses my site as a portal back to
Saskatoon.  Hope your having fun!

Pictures? What pictures?  OH YOU MEAN THOSE 1000+ pictures
that go erased last month and I still have to re-update them….
yeah…. all I can say is “eventually”.

October 4th, 2004

A ridiculous amount of Pictures are up of
Alexisonfire
from last Wednesday. As well
Fjords from
Saturday night at Amigos. Pictures of Moneen, Hopesfall, and Closet
Monster will come later in the week.  Enjoy!

October 3rd

So I’m taking pictures of
Huskies Soccer on Friday and I get an awesome
shot of the goalie catching the ball. I go to
review it on my camera and… the picture is
2/3’rds black?  I see that the last twenty
pictures I’ve taken are 2/3’rds black!  At
first I wonder how I can have my thumb over a
72mm lens and then I figure out that the mirror
in my dSLR isn’t moving all the way… I BROKE
MY CAMERA!!!   In a small way I can be
mad at this since now I will have to send it
away for a month to get warrantee’d but on the
other hand I can wear the badge that I wore out
a Canon Digital SLR with 21,938 pictures in 10
months.  Not too shabby!   :)

On the downside now though my
pictures for the next while aren’t going to look
as good as they did before because now I’m going
to have to use my film SLR camera which is in no
way as good for shooting bands as my digital was
but oh well….at least I can brag that I wore
out a camera taking 22 thousand pictures!

Note this show has been moved to the Odeon for anyone
who isn’t in the know.

That was great show! Awesome to see soooo many people fill up
Prarieland. I took A LOT of pictures but “school work comes first” so
expect pictures up Thursday night.

Until then however “for all you conspiracy people” watch
THIS
incredibly interesting video about how a plane was never actually
recovered from the Pentagon Crash site on 9/11. Makes you
wonder….

September 28th, 2004

Just incase you didn’t know, Alexisonfire is playing at Prarieland
tomorrow night (29th) with Moneen, Hopesfall, and Closet Monster.
Should be a jolly ol’ time. $16 in advance (Place Riel) / $18 door.
7pm I assume. See you there!

September 26th, 2004

“this domain is for sale”

So this guy in New Jersey bought our runner up for Canadian Idol’s web domain
www.theresasokyrka.com and
he wants to sell it for $5000US. I read the
article in the news paper and
heard about it on John Gormley Live (650NTR) on Friday.

This guy runs iwantmynameback.com and simply buys peoples names and
then tries to sell them when they get famous….

SOOOOO…. I went on diyhosting.ca and…… bought HIS name!……..

www.danielweixeldorfer.com

Now I own his name and want $5000US for it or I will trade for
theresasokyrka.com to give to Theresa for her to use.

John Gormley said I was one of his “smarter radio listeners” – I’d
have to agree!

September 23rd, 2004

Pictures are up of
Protest the Hero
, Bombs over
Providence
, and Sum41 who put on one
hell of a show I must say!

September 22nd, 2004

Come back later for pictures of Sum 41, Bombs over
Providence, and Protest the Hero, as well as a couple interviews from
last night at The Odeon.!

September 17th, 2004

Hooray for band pictures! Here are pictures of
PHD from last night at Ryley’s. Enjoy!

September 14th, 2004

Hey remember when I used to go to shows and take pictures?
Wow…those were the days!

More Pictures are up from House Boating, there are almost 500 here
and they are mostly from my houseboat as well scenery, cliff diving,
boat jumping, water sports, and such.

If any of you want any of these pictures printed
e-mail me the file names of
the ones you want (right click on the picture and select properties and
write down the name eg. IMG_8446.jpg) and I will send the original high
res file to Shoppers Drug Mart and have them done for the bargain
basement price of 25cents for a 4×6 or 99cents for a 5×7.

As for that band photography? There have been a lot of sweet
shows lately that I have had to miss unfortunately but don’t fret as it
is the new school year and with that always comes lots of great shows
such as Alexisonfire, Moneen, Billy Talent, etc. And YOU should go!

My website has been “broken” for the last few weeks now and I still
am having lots of problems updating and logging into my site which will
hopefully be fixed soon. I hope this massive attack of pictures
you’ve gotten this week makes up for it though :)

Enjoy!

September 10th, 2004

Few words can describe how awesome a five day house boating trip with
over 80 of your friends is so I thought I’de take over 2000 pictures
instead :) We went in two greyhound busses and had four houseboats
between us on Shuswap Lake in British Columbia. If you ever get a chance
to go house boating I would definitely recommend as it will be one of
the best times of your life!

Here are all the “PARTY
PICTURES”
which is about HALF of the pictures to be updated.
There are 756 pictures in this gallery which if you spend three seconds
looking at each in the slide show will take 756×3=2268seconds/60=38
minutes to look at them all. So go to the bathroom
first, grab a beer and enjoy!

September 2nd, 2004

What’s the only thing worse than punkoryan not updating for over a
week?…. I’m leaving in 2 hours to go House boating for another
week! *diabolical laugh*

However, seeing as I “hate to let you all down” and want to leave you
with something, here is a GIGANTIC
JUMBLE
of 369 pictures of various things and events and places and
friends and stuff that I have taken in the last month. I didn’t have
time to edit or organize these I just threw all the pictures I liked
from the last month in to a gallery. Enjoy and see you in a week!

August 28th, 2004

August 27th, 2004

Well lets all go
backwards in time because the people running the servers down in Florida
screwed up and wiped out the hard drive with my website on it!!!!
So luckily I didn’t lose the whole site (because I would die) the latest
backup was July 21st, but still I have lost a month worth of updates!
I still have the pictures, but it will be a BITCH to update all those
pictures again *tears*

I have zero time between now and when I leave to go House Boating on
the 2nd so I will just have to leave the last month of pictures for now
and catch up later.

Even though I promised them by last Sunday night,
HERE are the pictures from
the Tarrah Memorial Show.  There aren’t any fancy galleries because
that is screwed up too so yeah…. sleep now.

Oh yeah and go to the Bassment tonight.  The Thanatron Solution,
Means, Tombstone Diaries, An Epidempic Breaks, and Soccer Moms.
$6, 7pm.

August 25th, 2004

I must apologize but punkoryan.com has been in the processes of
moving to a new faster server these last few days and as a result I
haven’t been able to update as well I have lost the last month worth of
updates. I am working on getting them back, and getting the huge backlog
of pictures I have up as well.

“Let’s all hope I don’t have to RE-update the last month worth of
pictures”

Check back later.

visits/month from all over the world and it has been such inspiration for me
to keep going and keep taking pictures. I never thought my
photography would go this far and I hope for it to go much farther in the
future. This was my second year with the privilege of a photo pass at
Warped Tour. I got to be inches away from the bands and I hope these
pictures help all of you who couldn’t make it to the Warped Tour (or those
of you who want to relive it) see what it was like to be there….. “the
Woodstock of Punk Rock”

Enjoy!

July 17th, 2004

Wish you were there don’t you?!So why didn’t Punkoryan update from Calgary like he
said he would? Well among many other excuses I took over SEVEN
HUNDRED PICTURES of Warped Tour 2004 and its going to take a wee while
to get them all updated!

Don’t fret though, I’m already half way done and
should hopefully have them all up later tonight.

July 12th, 2004

Pictures are up of Shaun Groat’s stunt at the

Enjoy!

p.s. If you liked that, “wait till Georgestock”

And now YOU (YES YOU!) get to help choose which bands I will
photograph at Warped Tour on Thursday. Yes I do have a photo pass again
as well I will have a laptop so I will be updating FROM CALGARY THE
NIGHT OF WARPED TOUR!!! (Yes I always deliver!)

I am of course going to photograph all the big bands like NOFX, Bad
Religion, Thursday etc, but I leave it up to YOU to decide which of the
“small bands” (provided they aren’t playing at the same time as a little
band) I should photograph.

GO HERE for
the Poll, you can vote for more than one band in each pole, so vote for
as many bands as you want. Enjoy!

July 10th, 2004

July 5th, 2004

For anyone wishing to go to Tarrah’s prayer service tonight
at 7pm or the Funeral tomorrow morning at 10:30am (anyone feel
free to come, she would have loved “the scene people” to be
there) I have a map HERE
and the address is 3339 Centennial Dr.A heartfelt thank you
to all the people who have e-mailed and called me, and all our
friends to offer support. It’s thanks to people like you that we
can make it through this tragedy. As well finally, Duff is going
to be organizing a show in August to benefit the scholarship
that will be in her name! That is the most beautiful thing
anyone could do because tomorrow night (her funeral) would have
been the show she had organized at the Odeon. We thank you all
so very much! <3

July 3rd, 2004

A lot of people have been asking me to put up the news casts
of what happened so here is the:

Global Television Newscast on Tarrah Higginbotham

CTV News Cast on the Accident

As well there is her
BME
Website
. Everyone loved her “Diaries of a Porn Store Clerk”
and remember back in the day when she was in the
Waste Section?

July 2nd, 2004

You never know what you have until its
gone.

My friend Tarrah died in a
car accident on Thursday and at
risk of being untactful, I am strongly compelled to write a rant
right now. Not only because of the message it will hold, but
because ranting and especially photography have always been my
greatest outlet to my emotions.

This will be my second too many friends I
will have to be a pallbearer for, and with any death, friends
and family always get together for support and remembrance.
People always bring over the photo albums and the shoeboxes full
of pictures and look for ìthat good oneî. It is really helpful
and beautiful to sit around with friends, family, and even
strangers to you who all knew the person and tell stories and
laugh and cry about her/him.

What is especially important to me is all
of the pictures of the person. Putting them all in a photo album
for everyone too see, calling up friends and asking if anyone
has any pictures of them ìwhen we were on that tripî or ìlast
summer when her hair was that colorî.

As everyone goes through their
shoeboxes they find ìthat perfect oneî. I have been printing
and framing like crazy and what has hit me is how when a
person dies we not only conjure up old precious memories of
the person, but we for the first time share all of our
pictures and the stories that go along with them.

I am making it a point to give all of
my best pictures to friends of Tarrah. Ensure that we all
have ìthat perfect oneî of her to remember. Itís sad though,
that it always takes someoneís death for everyone to realize
what they meant to you, or how you wouldnít be
dating/hanging out with/friends with people if it wasnít for
her.

What I hope you leave this with, which
I definitely have is that I am going to start going through
all my pictures and printing ìthe perfect onesî for all my
other friends. We shouldnít have to wait for someone to die
to share all the pictures we have of them. Picture frames
are cheep; photo printing and reprints are cheep. Share your
photos, and share the memories that go with them.

If you want to send your condolences to
Tarrahís family her address was 627 Kellough Rd
Saskatoon, SK S7N3N4.

In Remembrance of Tarrahís undying
love for music, Donations will be taken up for a Scholarship
in Tarrahís Memory for a music student to attend post
secondary education. The foundation is Heart if the City
Piano Program 2505-Cumberland Ave .S. Saskatoon, S7J-2A1

If you remember Tarrah. From school,
from shows, from work, from life, her Prayer Service will be
at 7pm on Monday July 5th and the Funeral will be
at 10:30am on Tuesday July 6th at St. Patrick Church (3339 Centennial
Dr.)

June 29th, 2004

So last night my friend Lindsay called my up at
Midnight and asked me if I wanted to come jump the fence to the
Gathercole Building Demolition and take some pictures. (Shhhh
don’t tell anyone!)  “Okay, I can only go for an hour
though”….. 3 hours and 100 pictures later….Here
is the Result
.   Enjoy!

June 27th, 2004

I pray you all vote
tomorrow. This is the first time I will have been able to vote for a
federal election and I am exited. Not only do I have a chance to
exercise my democratic right that many countries do not have, but I am a
firm believer that if you don’t vote then you have no right to bitch
about the government. For that reason alone I hope you all go out
tomorrow, and if you aren’t of voting age then I urge you to talk to any
older siblings or especially your parents about who and why they are
voting to learn something.

If you are still undecided Here are the websites of the

Conservative
,
Liberal,
NDP, and
Green Party.
Read their platforms and see which ones best fit how you feel. Don’t
listen to all the fear scare commercials on the TV and Radio, make a
decision for yourself (and if your parents or siblings haven’t decided
then send them to read the platforms too).  If you can’t decide on
a party then just vote for Green party because they need all the votes
they can get!

Just think of how many people have died in history to give us
everything in life that we take for granted. Exercise your right,
exercise your privilege.

June 23rd, 2004

Pictures are up of The
Reason
, Cowpie,
Chimpan-A to Chimpan-Z and

More video to come tomorrow!

June 22nd, 2004

Expect a BAZILLION pictures and video of The Reason from last night
which was one hell of a show and if you didn’t go and didn’t have a DAMN
good excuse then shame on you because you missed an incredible
performance. As well while I am on the topic of incredible performances

out of me! Anyways it is 2 am and I start my new job tomorrow taking
pictures for an art gallery so wish me luck and check back late tomorrow
night for all the pictures.

To hold you over till then here is a video of the Reason from last
night. A song from their first album named “Tortoise”

June 21st, 2004

12 hours from the time I’m writing this my good friend Brett
will be on a plane to Europe for 2 months.  What better way
to say Goodbye than a pub
crawl
!

What’s with the T-shirts you ask? Well a friend of ours found
them in a warehouse he works in and they have been there since
1989 needless to say despite Brett washing them they all smelled
like dirty crayons but were funny nontheless.

See you all at The Bassment tonight!

June 19th, 2004

”  Enjoy!   ( If the video won’t play
when you click on it then right click on it and save it to your computer

June 10th, 2004

SOOOOOO  Guess who isn’t allowed to donate blood for 1
year because I’ve been to a Rain Forest in Mexico in the last
six months!!!

OOOOH YEAH!!!!

Funny thing is that I finally decided to listen to the
Vampires and go donate blood and now I can’t. No problem for me!
I still got a donut out of the whole thing too!

See you at the show Saturday night!

Now

THIS
is a punishment!  Poor Kid!

June 8th, 2004

So I’ve been a HUGE loser and not gone to any of the shows
for the last week!

I feel like I’m going into show withdral!!!  SOOOO I
(and all of you!) am going to the next three shows this weekend
and I hope to see you all there!

Don’t forget to save your pennies for Sunday night too as
Webster is great! (provided they haven’t gotten a crappy
vocalist because last time I saw them they didn’t have a
vocalist and they were just good “music”)

June 7th, 2004

Give it a second listen.

Last year before Warped Tour I made it a
point to ìsampleî all of the bands that would be there so that I
knew which ones to listen to when I was there.  Glassjaw, a
ìscreamo bandî I guess, didnít really appeal to me last summer
when I tried listening to them, but now, a year later, I canít
stop listening to them! My music tastes changed, and I grew into
the CD.

Back in grade 10, I bought the new Beastie
Boys CD Hello Nasty. I thought IT WAS TERRIBLE!!! I
forced myself to listen, but I just couldnít bring myself to
it.     Just after I bought the CD I told my
friend how much I didn’t like it and he offered to buy it off
me….I pondered it, but then decided I would give the CD
another try. Six months later the CD never left my discman. I
ended up buying every Beastie Boys CD.

Iím sure I far from need to tell you this,
but, at least for me, the CDs I hate at first turn out to be the
ones that never leave my discman, and the ones that donít leave
my discman when I first buy them end up getting boring fast.

The point of this is to tell you to go
over to that stack of CDs you have. Pull out the CDís that you
only listened to once or twice, and force yourself to
listen to them again. Maybe that CD really was terribleÖ.maybe
it may never leave your discman.

Thanks to Steve for pointing out the fact that
if I am going to write a rant about how there are two sides to
every story I should have links to both sides!   Here
is Michael Moore’s website which I have linked before and is
great reading to get you thinking as well he has many links to
alternative news sites that offer unbiased (non-CNN) stories and
articles you normally wouldn’t EVER see on TV or in the
newspaper.

Remember, I still love Michael Moore, and even if his side
may sometimes be a little one sided, it is often a side that you
normally wouldn’t get to hear or see and that is what is most
important.

Finally I must link to a site I find VERY interesting (though
a long read) on all of the events that happened up to and after
911.  From The Wilderness is an essay site run by a guy
Mike Ruppert and it covers everything from War to the Economy. A
great site if you like to read up on more of what is happening
in the world.

I still haven’t seen Moore’s new movie but I’m sure a lot of
it will be based on the below essay and you know that everything
in this essay is based on fact.  The guy has a $1000 reward
to anyone who can prove anything in this essay to be false. If
you read anything for the rest of your life (ok maybe that is a
little extreme) but still everyone should read:

“Oh
Lucy! – You Gotta Lotta ‘Splainin’ To Do
”
<—- READ THIS (borring at beggining but gets very interesting
around 9/11/01) The more you read the more you get into it.

Mau 27th, 2004

The other day I asked my cousin “if you see the
new Michael Moore movie somewhere on the net download it because
I want to see it”. “Michael Moore?” he said “I’m not going to
waste my time with that liar again. After Bowling for Columbine
I started “thinking” but then realized that everything he showed
was just his view of it, and hardly anything he said was based
on concrete fact. He just showed you what he wanted to be seen”

Now this thought had of course come to my mind
too, but I never seriously put some thought into the fact that
“Americas Whistle Blower” may be just as corrupt as the media he
bashes, and greedy as the corporations he tries to bring down.

Turns out there are A LOT of people out there
who feel the same, and when I read into it, my eyes were as
opened to Bowling Columbine in how much of it was distorted.
After all, I loved the movie so much I was too concerned with
how awesome it was to question it. A few websites are on the
left that everyone should check out. –> Not because I am now a
“Moore Hater”, I still love him and his movies, but because just
as his movies try to do, they leave you to make your own
judgment.

Judgments should always be based on the facts.
As much as I know I will love Moores new movie F911, I will now
be much more skeptic about what is said because remember:

Your seeing things how he makes them to
be.

Vampires!  The Vampires won’t stop calling me!  It’s like
they like my flavor and they keep coming back for more! (well actually I
am type O which makes me the “universal donor” so they do like me) BUT
STILL!!! I donated blood back 4 years ago and they have called me every
few weeks since then “thanking me for my previous donation” and wanting
more!  What am I suppose to do ? I can’t just tell them to stop
calling me (…I wouldn’t want to come off as some jerk who doesn’t want
to save lives or anything  :)      So what
are my options? I could get a tattoo or piercing! Then I couldn’t donate
for a year! But they would keep me on their list …. waiting….
waiting ….until 365 days have gone by and then *ring ring* “we thank
you for your previous donation” AHHHH! I guess I could
just go donate blood again…. then they wouldn’t call me for three
months because I would have to regenerate another feast for them….
hmmmm maybe I will donate blood one of these days… I
keep telling the people on the phone that I will. I guess they have me
caught in their trap (just like Jackie Chan) … I give them blood and they stop calling me for
three months, it’s a win win situation…..or at least until they get
hungry again!

May 11th, 2004

Seven Hours of organizing and 276 pictures later I
completely redid and added to the PHOTO section.
Many pictures you will have already seen, but I seriously haven’t
updated that section in about a year and I have taken…oh….a “few”
since then so I figured I better get it up to date!

I also put up some of the pictures I have done for photo
press packages for bands. If your band needs some promotional shots
taken feel free to drop an e-mail and “hire” me :)   I still
have a lot more pictures to put up and will be updating that section
more often now that this Gallery thing makes it so easy to update
picture albums.  Next in line –> The Waste Section!!!  And oh
yeah, remember “back in the day” when I seemed to have an opinion on
everything and could write tons…well I haven’t actually written
anything for my site in a very long time and I really miss it so expect
to be even more bored out of your mind with my site than normal because
I have some rants’a’broo’n !
