A cinematic look at autumn in Edmonton’s Mill Creek Ravine on September 28, 2011. Video by Ryan Jackson, edmontonjournal.com

I put masking tape on my Canon 1D Mark-IV LCD screen to help with 2.35:1 "Panavision" framing. I really like shooting this way.

I used a Kessler Pockey Dolly on a Manfrotto 504HD head for the movements. Just used a Canon 24-105L and 70-200 2.8L with Fader ND filters for lenses.

I ended up getting a couple of those plastic LCD screen covers and etching a few different ratios in by hand. It’s not pretty or entirely accurate, but does give a bit better sense of the crop if I’m shooting for something specific (keeping in mind my apparently ancient dslr doesn’t shoot video).
