House of Refuge Mission

Colin Chong with House of Refuge Mission poses for a photo in the kitchen on October 23, 2009.  The mission, located at 10339A  95 St. in Edmonton is a downtown soup kitchen that serves between 100 and 300 people every night for dinner. Alberta Health Services has shut down the kitchen for contravening health and safety regulations. Volunteers that run the mission do not deny they are in violation but say they are worried about the homeless who depend on the service for sustenance. Yesterday I had an assignment to take pictures of a temporary Halloween store and found this cool Superhero/Journalist Halloween Costume. Pretty sweet but this year I’m going dressed as one of the McPoyle‘s from It’s Always Sunny in Philidelphia.

Teaching at MacEwan University

I’m now officially faculty at MacEwan University! I taught part of the second-year Documentary Photography class at MacEwan last year and I’m teaching again next semester. Greg Southam teaches the still photo portion of the class and I’m teaching the multimedia portion. You can find some of my notes and lectures from last year in the Training section of this site.
