If you missed the free course then you can buy and download all three days for $79 US which works out to $75 CAN.
I watched most of the first day and it’s already well worth the money. You can get up-to-speed on D-SLR cinematography very fast for free/cheap. God I love living in the future!

This was a really fun assignment and my first time using the 5D Mark-II in the field on a news assignment. The entire video was shot with the 5D Mark-II, 16-35L, 70-200 f2.8 and a 4-stop ND filter. For sound I placed an Olympus LS-10 in each person’s front pocket. I used the Final CutPro plug-in Plural Eyes to automatically sync the audio tracks. HUGE time saver.
Finally, the picture above of the guy doing push-ups as well as the fish-eye shot are both frame grabs from video. Can you tell?

I shot this 35mm f2.8 on a 5D Mark-II, available light.
I had to make some nice photos of the LRT for a big story on two new terminals. Here are my two favorite images.
The McKernan Belgravia LRT Station south of the University of Alberta in Edmonton on April 20, 2010. Photo by Ryan Jackson / Edmonton Journal
To make this image I shot at a slow shutter speed ( 1/30sec, F22, ISO50) and zoomed my 24-105mm lens while the shutter was open to give the zooming effect.

To make this image I placed my camera (safely) near the tracks, down low with a 16mm fisheye lens on a 5D Mark-II. I set the shutter speed at 1/125th so that there is a little motion blur. I triggered the camera remotely with a Pocketwizard so that I could stand 10 feet away and be safe. I was sure that the conductor of the train could see me with my big cameras and see that I was a photographer.
If I saw someone place a black box with wires coming out of it next to a train track and then stand back with a wireless trigger in his hand I would be concerned!
