I’m now officially faculty at MacEwan University! I taught part of the second-year Documentary Photography class at MacEwan last year and I’m teaching again next semester. Greg Southam teaches the still photo portion of the class and I’m teaching the multimedia portion. You can find some of my notes and lectures from last year in the Training section of this site.
I spent A TON of time working on this. Check out my Mayerthorpe Interactive Timeline showing all of the events leading up to and following the murder of four RCMP officers by Jim Roszko, on March 3, 2005. The largest killing of RCMP in over 100 years. To build the timeline I used Simile.
It’s cool how much of my time in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science has been useful in being a Photojournalist and Online Edtor at the Journal. I have a few crazy projects on the go right now that I’ll share with you in the coming weeks. Enjoy!
I’ve been nominated for a News Photographers Association of Canada Picture of the Year Award for my Sitting Volleyball Video! The winners will be announced on April 25th in Toronto. Wooooo!
I spoke at MacEwan College back on November 14th about Multimedia and Soundslides. I tell my story as a Photojournalist, go through my portfolio, show some examples of audio slideshows that I have done and show how I edited and put them together with Audacity and Soundslides.
